A pre-authorisation occurs when you make a transaction, and the funds are placed on hold in your account until the merchant charges the account.
If you cancel the payment from the merchant’s side, the funds will be reversed back on to your Pockit Prepaid Mastercard®.
This can also occur when you are making a deposit, for example when booking a hotel, they may pre-authorise an amount on your card in case of damages.
These transactions can stay in ‘pending’ status on your statement for a maximum of 10 working days. We need to allow that time for the merchant to claim the funds which usually is a lot sooner than this. However, if the payment was not taken by the merchant, we will need to wait up to 10 working days for the funds to drop back in the available balance.
Please be aware, it won’t show as a refund or return on your statement because the payment never completed and therefore "drops off" the statement and the funds are then available again in your balance.
Please get in touch via email to email@example.com If the transaction still shows as pending even after 10 working days.
