What is the difference between shared and separate balance additional cards?

A shared balance contactless prepaid Mastercard® is an additional card that has access to the balance on the main card and can spend accordingly.

A separate balance card is an additional card that has access to the balance transferred from the main card only. In other words, the separate balance account holder cannot spend more than what was transferred to them by the main account holder.
